Clouse (Unaka) Pottery   Our research shows that Clouse was a family pottery operating in Erwin, TN, for 10 years or so beginning about 1946. Also known as Unaka Pottery, Clouse designs give great attention to delicacy and fine detail. It is our understanding that Bonnie Clouse's sister, Lena Watts (at one time the head decorator for Southern Potteries, Inc.) designed the Clouse patterns and did much of the painting. Clouse items with which we are personally familiar are thin and delicate and are most likely porcelain. Clouse has an exceptional translucence that pottery and porcelain items from the other Tennessee potteries do not have.
