On other pieces you might find three apples across from two apples. Smaller bowls and plates usually have the two and one apple design. Sometimes leaves have multiple veins and apples have brown accents; sometimes these elements are not present. Frequently, the sugar bowl, creamer, and cups are painted with two apples. When the design on the sugar bowl, creamer, and cups have only one apple, the design is usually painted with multiple leaf veins, brown accents in the apple, and the handle of the cup is sponged red rather than painted with athe teardrop brushstroke of the two-apple cup. Crab Apple is not to be confused with Cherry Bounce which has the red fruit painted in the middle of the plate. We have been told the Crab Apple cups, sugar, creamer, and gravy with two apples were also painted to go with CHERRY BOUNCE. The saucers in these two patterns, however, are distinctly different. Another similar pattern, but distinct with its darker, wider red edging and smaller, darker apples, is RED APPLE.
