Grandmothers Garden   One of the loveliest floral patterns, Grandmothers Garden depicts a fantastic bouquet of garden flowers painted on the Colonial shape in shades of yellow, purple, pink, blue, red, green, and rust. The dot-and-dash border was painted with either aqua blue or aqua blue. We specify the color of the edge trim in our individual descriptions. Hard-to-find, definitely a must-have! However, the bowl size is distinctly smaller than any veggie bowl we have seen before in the Grandmother's Garden pattern. Traditionally, the round Blue Ridge vegetable bowl is about 9.25 inches from outer rim edge to the opposite outer rim edge and the height about 2.25 inches from table top to top rim edge. This bowl is considerably smaller, measuring 8 1/8 across and 1 7/8 inches in height, and it is definitely not the same shape as the flat soup bowl! Negatha Peterson, former artist for SPI, told us that the flowers in all of the blue dot-and-dash border designs were painted using a large English floral platter (with the same style border) as a design guide! Since England entered WWII before the USA entered the war, the 3 dots and 3 dashes repeated around the English platter edge could have intentionally been Morse Code for VICTORY.
