  Blue Martha Pitcher   |
Martha is the name of the pitcher shape! Found in various shades of green, blue, red, and yellow. Matching mixing bowls were also made. Differences in pitcher sizes is attributed to the use of different molds and the amount of clay build-up present in the mold used. For example, a mold with a substantial amount of build-up would produce a smaller pitcher than a mold that had never been used.

FOR VIEWER REFERENCE ONLY
Martha and Grace pitchers are similar in shape. However, the Martha is easily distinguished by a one-color glaze and mold-embossed feathery design found front and back. Grace pitchers are hand-painted with many different designs. Martha pitchers are most often pottery, while Grace pitchers are usually china/porcelain. We've only seen one Martha pitcher with a backstamp in our cumulative years of collecting. Grace pitchers are usually marked with a logo including the word CHINA.
