 Owl Ash Tray Signed D. Ferguson - #6373 - A first for us in 20 years of collecting Pigeon Forge Pottery! Glaze within the impressed owl design ranges from blue to purple. Measuring 8 3/8 inches across and 1 3/4 inches from tabletop to top rim edge, the weight exceeds two pounds. No crazing. A firing flaw original to the making of it is noted. Although seen both top and bottom of the thick edge, the piece remains solid. For description accuracy, a glazed over chip on the back where the firing flaw reaches the edge is shown. Click pic below for larger view. The back is glazed from base edge to upper rim edge. Ferguson incised his signature before firing while the clay was still wet.
