CHEROKEE CHINA COMPANY Cradle Planter Wall Pocket – #1075 – This is a vintage pottery planter vase measuring about 4 x 5 inches overall in the shape of a baby cradle.  Note the hanging hole! In addition to table or shelf display, the cradle can be used as a wall hanger.  Since the company was in business for only about 10 years, items are difficult to find today. Therefore, even though not perfect, the cradle is a treasure.

Vivid, hand painted blue and pink flowers catch the eye! View all images to find clear crazing to the glaze. The interior is clean. Two minor hairlines under glaze and original to production do not affect stability and are not noticeable on display. About CHEROKEE CHINA COMPANY:  Our research indicates that Cherokee China Company,  established and operating in Jonesboro, TN, beginning in the early 1940’s, had some connection to Southern Potteries, Inc., Erwin, TN. Some of the Cherokee China Company logos include the words Rogersville, Tenn., therefore, the pottery was probably in production there at some point in its history of operation. Our research shows that some of the hand painted pieces were pottery and some were porcelain. Cherokee China Company is known today as one of the mid 19th century Tennessee potteries molding and hand painting in the Blue Ridge tradition.
