FOR SALE:  Erwin Pottery Crab Apple Child’s Sugar Bowl

Erwin Pottery Crab Apple Child’s Sugar Bowl – #1090 – We purchased this lovely child’s Crab Apple sugar bowl and lid directly from Negatha Peterson in the mid-1990’s at her Erwin Pottery studio in Erwin, TN.  With lid in place, the total height is about 3.75 inches from tabletop to top of lid knob. Both bowl and lid are free of chips, cracks and crazing.  Under glaze, the bowl displays the Erwin Pottery mark along with Mrs. Peterson’s hand written initials, NP.  According to Mrs. Peterson, she created her own shape bowl and lid to go with the other pieces in her child’s tea set. The excellent condition makes it look like it recently came from the kiln! (NW-1)

ABOUT:  Erwin Pottery Crab Apple Child’s Sugar Bowl

A long-time employee of Southern Potteries, Inc., Mrs. Peterson was one of the outstanding artists from that company. After SPI closed its doors in the mid-1950’s, she purchased some original SPI molds and opened Erwin Pottery. The apple pattern seen here is Mrs. Peterson’s version of the Blue Ridge Crab Apple design. It mixes extremely well with original SPI Crab Apple and Cherry Bounce patterns. The handwritten initials NP under glaze is a guarantee that this demi creamer is from before Mrs. Peterson retired and sold Erwin Pottery to new owners. We believe that this Erwin Pottery Crab Apple Child’s Sugar Bowl with Lid as hand-crafted by Negatha Peterson is EXTREMELY difficult to find. Crab Apple made by Erwin Pottery is very popular today with many Blue Ridge Crab Apple collectors adding Erwin Pottery to their collections!

In addition to Erwin Pottery Crab Apple Child’s Sugar Bowl – #1090, we have other Erwin Pottery pieces available in the Crab Apple pattern. Included are pieces from a partial child’s tea set. Mrs. Peterson hand-crafted and painted this set using her version of the Blue Ridge Crab Apple pattern. See our other listings for more Crab Apple items from Erwin Pottery!
