FOR SALE:  Erwin Pottery Crab Apple Kettle Pot Jam Jar

Erwin Pottery Crab Apple Kettle Pot Jam Jar – #1085 – We purchased this lovely kettle or pot shaped jam jar with lid directly from Negatha Peterson in the mid-1990’s at her Erwin Pottery studio in Erwin, TN.  With lid in place on top of pot, the total height is about 4 inches from tabletop to top of lid handle. Outside edge of handle to opposite outside handle edge measures about 4.75 inches. Both pot and lid are free of chips, cracks and crazing.  Under glaze, the pot displays the Erwin Pottery mark along with Mrs. Peterson’s hand written initials, NP.  This is a piece of Erwin Pottery Crab Apple that would go with the other child’s pieces we have listed or used with Blue Ridge Crab Apple as a jam jar.  Excellent condition! (NW-1)

HISTORY:  Erwin Pottery Crab Apple Kettle Pot Jam Jar

A long-time employee of Southern Potteries, Inc., Mrs. Peterson was one of the outstanding artists at that company. After SPI closed its doors in the mid-1950’s, she purchased some original SPI molds and opened Erwin Pottery. The apple pattern seen here is Mrs. Peterson’s version of the Blue Ridge Crab Apple design. It mixes extremely well with original SPI Crab Apple and Cherry Bounce patterns. We believe that the handwritten initials NP under glaze are a guarantee that this Erwin Pottery Crab Apple Kettle Pot Jam Jar is from before Mrs. Peterson retired and sold Erwin Pottery to new owners. We believe that this item is EXTREMELY difficult to find. Crab Apple made by Erwin Pottery is very popular today with many Blue Ridge Crab Apple collectors adding Erwin Pottery to their collections!

In addition to Erwin Pottery Crab Apple Kettle Pot Jam Jar – #1085, we have other Erwin Pottery pieces available in the Crab Apple pattern. Included are pieces from a partial child’s tea set. Mrs. Peterson hand-crafted and painted this set using her version of the Blue Ridge Crab Apple pattern. See our other listings for more Crab Apple items from Erwin Pottery!
